Out-of-Game Crafting

Physrep Crafting Guidelines

  • All weapons must have 1" of soft foam surrounding any rigid body within the weapon on striking surfaces.
  • Any tip or point of a weapon used for stabbing must have 2” of foam and extra reinforcement to prevent the core from puncturing the foam.
  • Any non striking area at the end of a core like the base of a handle or pommel must be covered by 1/2” of foam.
  • Any weights in a weapon’s striking surface must be surrounded by 1" of foam.
  • No sharp, coarse, or rough rigid structures are permitted in weapons, shields, or armor to prevent damage to foam weapons.
  • Shield edges must have some form of padding. Metal surfaces on shields or armor may be allowable, provided that the edges are covered and cannot damage a weapon. Consulting with GMs before the event is advised.
  • The entire body of a throwing weapon (knife, kunai, ninja star, etc.) is considered a striking surface, so the entire weapon must have 1” of foam around the core.
  • Arrows must be larp-safe; the head must be very well padded and larger than an eye socket.
  • Spell packets are generally a cloth square pouch of small beans, lentils, or rice enclosed with a rubber band.

Please note, GMs always have final say on whether or not a weapon, armor, or shield is permitted. We recommend reaching out to ask questions about your weapon before an event if you are at all unsure about its allowability. Players can pay to rent weapons from Claritas LLC if their weapons are deemed unsafe (the weapon rental fee is waived for first time attendees).
