Frequently Asked Questions
For LARPers: We describe our combat as slightly more intense than softest-touch LARPs, and we use weapons that are slightly less padded than boffer weapons.
For non-LARPers: we're hitting each other with pretty soft weapons, and we're not hitting super hard. Talents make our combat more interesting than just weapon fighting. If being on the front lines of combat isn't your thing, we have plenty of play styles that might suit you!
You can see our safety rules here and our weapon guidelines here.
If you don't have fantasy clothing at your disposal, no worries! We recommend wearing a solid, neutral colored base layer. The modern nature of jeans and athletic wear tend to make them stick out a bit, so cotton, linen, or textured materials are a good option. After that, accessories like belts, scarves, trinkets, and sashes go a long way. If you come out of costume, no worries! Many players develop their character's costume as they develop the character, so there's no pressure to come with costuming fully figured out.
If you have fantasy and costume clothing at your disposal, you are welcome to go all-out! We recommend durable and mobile clothing. LARP includes a lot of movement, running, and walking, and the more comfortable you are, the more you can focus on the game. Many players opt for long sleeves (especially pants) during the summer to help with insects, poison ivy, and sun. Comfortable and stable shoes are especially important! We know shoes are some of the harder pieces to find in fantasy-appropriate styles; please wear whatever you think will work best for you. When in doubt, pack spare options that are more comfortable, warmer, cooler, etc.
